Can hurricanes be disrupted?

While there have been many ideas proposed over the years, most scientists agree that it is not possible to disrupt a hurricane with a nuclear bomb. The energy carried by a hurricane is immense, and even a nuclear weapon would barely affect it. Other ideas, such as using cold water pumps or a Jell-O-like substance, have also been proposed but are considered far-fetched.

The most famous attempt to modify hurricanes was Project STORMFURY, a US government-led program that ran from 1962 to 1983. The project aimed to weaken hurricanes by seeding them with silver iodide, which would enhance the formation of ice and reduce the strength of the storm. While the project seemed to work at first, researchers eventually realized that there was no defensible evidence that it was effective.

In summary, while there have been many ideas proposed over the years, most scientists agree that it is not possible to disrupt a hurricane using any of the methods that have been proposed so far.
